The next PAST event will take place in Portico at 7.30pm on Friday 19th May.
HMS Caroline is the last surviving vessel that fought at the Battle of Jutland in 1916 and, as such, is of major historic significance. She has been part of the scenery of Belfast Harbour for many years but was deteriorating. As many will be aware, a major restoration project has now been undertaken and she opened for visitors last year. A superb job has been done and her story is well told. A visit is highly recommended..
Our speaker, Victoria Millar (formerly Keeper of Collections at the Down County Museum) is her curator. Victoria describes Caroline’s fascinating story in an engaging way. Why not come along, hear her talk and then go and visit the ship at a later date. You won’t be disappointed.
